Unitiserver-Add/Edit Music Genre

Posted by: T38.45 on 14 August 2012

I try to change genre with dtc and via web-gui but it doesn't allow me to do. For example, I would like to change the genre of Curtis Mayfield CD in "soul" but it didn't work. I changed it to "soul1" and than it works....the genre soul is not available/not shown...

anybody same issue?

thanks!

Can you not (in Desktop Client) create a new Genre called "Soul" and drag that album into that genre?

Hi Phil, thanks for response- no, this is not possible, dtc doesn't allow me to do that...I have to call the genre "blues1" or "soul1" instead of "blues" and "soul"....

if i read you correctly, you can change genre from soul to soul1, but then you cannot see soul?

my understanding is that the list of genre is showing the album genre you have on the system, so if you have no other soul albums on the system, this genre will disappear. This is not a fault as the list is of those you have rather than a full and non exhaustive list of possible genre.

I've just checked here and I can do it - right click on the "Genres" book icon in the Music Library tab of DTC and select "New" - you should get a new "Book" appear at the bottom of the Genres list called "New Genre". Right click on that item and choose "Rename" and you should be able to rename it to "Soul" assuming that you do not already have a genre of Soul already listed.

Do you get an error message at all?

invalid parameter supplied, Parametername: SubGenreKey

re-name is not possible: Hard disk player is currently busy. Please try again.

Error still exists even after reboot...

you cannot edit information for the album or song you are playing, and this could possibbly be true for all albums in a genre? On my ns01 I can create new genres and rename existing genres without problems, on the other hand I cannot move albums to another genre since this process is 100 procent keyboard unfriendly!

Does it by chance make a difference if you go through the  edit menu when renaming or creating genres?

if i go through the web interface (system-manage-edit) it doesn't work either....i can edit "Soul1" to "Soul" but it doesn't save the change and jumps back to the home-screen....
