Hi,
I'm in despair. My laptop is not recognising certain cd's using db poweramp. When I use my wife's laptop/ iTunes combo is rips perfectly.
Any suggestions?

The CD/DVD ROM drive maybe?

If a CD doesn't seem to read on closing the drive try hitting the 'Refresh' button in the menu bar.

I've tried that. Doesn't make any difference.

This happens - for some reason my laptop drive can read cds that my expensive desktop Blu-ray drive can't. In a very few cases I've used Windows Media Player to rip as it seems very tolerant of errors (not what I'd normally want and definitely a last resort!). I guess iTunes is also less fussy than DBPa - I normally use EAC.

Hi it sounds if your laptop CDROM is out of tolerence, and so certain discs can't be read.. I assume these discs cant  be played outside of dBpoweramp on said laptop? There is less error correction on CD audio compared to CD ROM, and so a CD drive on the edge is more likely to trip up on CD audio discs compared to CD ROM.

If this is not the case then it's worth putting a CD in and getting dBpoweramp to optimise its settings for a disc, but in my expierience that is only used for setting the parameters for disc error correction.

One other consideration, make sure that when you enter a CD another application is not trying to read the CD drive at the same time as DBpoweramp, which can prevent dBpoweramp seeing the disc
