Differing bitrates...

Hi, I have a UnitiQute (24bit/192kHz version) and have been happily streaming some 24bit studio masters (2116 kb/s) via FLAC. However being Sunday I decided to experiment and use dbPoweramp to do an exact rip but to Apple lossless. dbPoweramp shows them being exact bitrate copies however when streamed to the UnitiQute the prevailing rate for the apple lossless is 1395 kb/s?! Does anyone know what's causing the down sampling?

Any suggestions welcome, Cheers

I would have thought the difference is due to different compression techniques. Your FLACS could even be uncompressed. I believe the data rate to be the input data rate. The playing data rate would be the same. Bit depth and sampling frequencies can still be compressed or uncompressed.

Some programs show the uncompressed bitrate for lossless files (such as dbpoweramp), others show the bitrate of the compressed file, which is typically about half the uncompressed rate.
