Sad news ...

Scott released "San Francisco", which was by the late John Philips of the Mamas & Papas. He was in the Journeymen with JP. I think he is on their three albums. I think he wrote Kokomo for the Beech Boys, which was a hit. He made a couple of records on his own and then that was that.

Still he'll always be remember for singing that classic song that seemed to give so much hope at the time. It was #1 back in 1967 (one of music's great years).

Legacy lives on

If ever a song epitomised its time it's this one. When I hear it I'm back to being an awkward 13 year old gazing wistfully at all those beautiful teenage girls who apparently couldn't even see me. Thankfully one did and she's now my wife of 36 years.

It's a precious song and I'm much saddened by the news of his death.

TomK,

It certainly was a song of a very special era, and one that I remember well, ah!.....

And Osprey a great video clip with a fleeting secong or two of Janis, Jimi and Brian.

Sad news.

Even if people have never owned a copy of San Fran the words will always be stuck in ones head.

Thanks Scott

RIP.

A very topical and influential song from my youth.

Andy Warhol always said that everyone had 15 minutes of fame. In Scott's case he had only 3 minutes.....but he left his mark with the ultimate anthem of 1967. Rip
