HDX not recognizing cd

Posted by: gmischol on 24 August 2012

After ripping about 1000 cds, there are some which my HDX is not recognizing, ironicalliy some older ones by the Britisch band Dire Straits (Communique, Making Movies and the soundtrack Local Hero) and some other older ones.

Is there any reason for that and is there any workaround apart from ripping them through a computer?

Hi, not sure why they have not been recognised, may be a poor Internetconnection and not getting good connection with search engines.

Anyway, on the nerve software, latest version, you can manually input albumSadat such as band, album name, tracks, etc.

Try inserting a few fields and then found another search and it might pick up. If not you can inset all details yourself.

You can also search for album coversseperstelybat on Internet via nerve.

May also be worth trying update via the desk top client

Hi, I have had an issue with a couple of Queen 80's CD's - it would appear that BMG / Sony had copy protection on them. Can you see that your device has ripped the CD?

If it has ripped as an 'unkown' album you can of course edit the details really easily via the Desktop Client or nStream.

Only CD's it has ripped as 'unknown' in my ownership are brand new releases and they usually get onto the online database after a week or so.

Maybe your CD's are 'fakes'? Might trigger the problem perhaps?

I've had this very occasionally and found that a full power down for a minute or two and reboot solves the problem.

The HDX ripped all my original 80's release Dire Straits cd's ok though.....it seems quite random.  It didn't like Bonnie Raitt's new album until a reboot.

Worth a try?

Thanks for all the suggestions, but I have tried them all already. When I insert the cd and close the drawer, nothing happens and on the screen is written "no cd".

I think I have to rip them on my computer and copy to the NAS.

I had the same problem with my HDX-SSD after ripping about 500 cd´s.

It turned out it was an optical mech failure and I had to send it back for service.

It now works perfect with every cd I insert.

My advise is to speak to your dealer.

Good luck!
