Supernait + NDS?

Of course you can. It will be fantastic. A long time ago I had a CDS2/XPS home with a Nait2 and Rega Juras and was amazing compared to the usual Rega Planet I ran in the system. 

The SuperNait will respect that awesome source.

The NDS even comes with an analog cable to connect its output to the input on the SuperNait. It's like they saw you coming.

Well my current setup consists of an NDX - Hi-Line - Supernait - Hi Cap DR.

I would like to upgrade at incremental steps. So my next upgrade will be a 555PS DR to power the NDX, before selling the NDX and upgrading to the NDS in the future.

I'm guessing the NDS would provide an improvement in sound quality over the NDX + 555PS combo even when connected to a Supernait?

Definitely YES. An "X" serie stays an "X" and the "S" serie makes the gap

Source first. It would be a superb system. You can connect the NDS to any integrated or pre you like. Well worth an audition.

I am going for your current and future setup and I think the NDS will sound great with the Snait.  I was wondering what the HiCap DR has done for your system and what improvements you have seen?  My HiCap2 is on the list to get the DR upgrade.

Running a CDX2.2/nDAC/555PS into SN/HC-DR/Totem Forest. Sounds bloody marvelous. I think I like the HC-DR a lot, early days though, two to be exact. Sold the HC2, i.e. will be difficult to rate one vs. the other but all in all very nice and coherent so far...

In answer to your question, NDS/555PS-DR/SN/HC-DR should be a real joy. But yes, better pre/power will see you hear more of the NDS. Same old story, where is it you feel content enough to settle?

The Hi-Cap DR definitely has given the sound more clarity, it's sharper, more alive, more clearer than before. The Hi Cap 2 I was testing at the dealers gave the Supernait more body to the sound, but this Hi Cap DR take's it above that.

It's difficult for me to describe directly, as I demo'd and placed my order on my system about 3 weeks before the Hi Cap DR was officially launched, As my dealer told me at the time about it being launched so there was no point ordering the Hi Cap 2.

Not yet!  Waiting for the availability of the upgrade here in the USA.

Wondered if you had your NDS/555-DR yet, and if so, what it sounds like on the SN?

Will be doing exactly this  audition in a few weeks time, comparing NDS/555-DR vs. my NDX/XPS2-DR into my SuperNait/HiCap 2 DR/804Ds, and will also be keen to hear other people's experience.  This will be a prelude to possible pre/power upgrade in 2013, but want to live with it on the SN in te meantime.

Julian, how's the Supercapped XS?  I used a spare (at the time) Scap2 with my XS a couple of years ago and thought it was stunning. I have read since many reports of people not liking the combo, but i'm sure my ears were not deceiving me!

@Julian: You had to go the Supercap + NaitXS to better the Nait 5i-2?

No, I didn't need SC XS to better the 5i, though I did need the FC2 on it to make it into what I wanted, not liking the XS bare. I have the Supercap on it because it is spare and I have decided it can stay!  I think SC on XS is lovely, builds on the strengths of the FC2 significantly, bare and with Hicap the XS was quite unloved,

In about a week's time, I'll have an even "crazier" system -- NDS/555PS feeding a Nait XS / Hicap.  I have done some listening at home of various "system upgrades" (had a 282/250.2 combo for a weekend) and honestly I have continued to prefer the sound of source upgrades to amp upgrades up to now.

And I do plan to "DR" the 555PS and likely the HiCap; am "in line."
