Empty Folders MacBook Pro

Posted by: Jon Myles on 18 September 2012

With my NAS drive having given up the ghost I'm using a MacBook Pro for streaming while I decide on a replacement.

Strangely, though some folders containing music are showing up as 'empty' on nStream when I try to access. Others work perfectly. There's a mixture of FLAC and WAV files and the problem doesn't seem to be related to one or the other.

There's definitely music in there as they show up on the MacBook.

I'm using EyeConnect and ca find no rational answer as it doesn't apply to all folders.

Anyone any idea?

Might be worth checking folder permissions on the Mac Jon.

Hi James,

Thanks...tried that. All well. Very bemusing. The folders show up on nStream but when opened they show empty. I've tried reloading but to no avail.

Same files play perfectly if imported to iTunes at same quality!

I'm sure I'm missing something very simple here.

Hi Jon - Ok. IIRC someone else had an issue like this and garyi came up with a solution. Worth going back through his postings on Streaming Audio (or just PM him on Pinkfish)

James

Thanks. I'll have a look when I get home.

Glad to hear it might not just be me.

Actually, I'll take that back.

Search function on Naim Audio Forums isn't worth the effort as I recall.

Although, someone else on another forum has now informed me it's a basic flaw in the Naim software. Which may explain why some files show and some do not.

He's recommended to import to iTunes. Drag to desktop and then put into folders.

I'll give it a go tonight.

Strangely, this works. I've no idea why - but at least it does!
