Share path for external storage
Posted by: TerryP on 25 September 2012
Hi, trying to use a shared folder (volume1/network music) on my SYNOLOGY NAS drive to take my HDX ripped files; but cannot get the share path correct to make this the default path. Pulling my hair out here; so not much left ... anyoffers??
So you created a share on the Synology called 'network music' which the HDX sees in its list of 'Scanable network shares', and then you selected it on the HDX and said 'Use as Store', then you went to 'Stores for Ripped Music' on the HDX and said 'Increase Priority'... and what happened?
Hi,
Does it show as a network share in DTC, if so you need to promote it to a music share. If you have other music shares you need to increase its priority,
Gerry
Gerry means Music Store, not Music Share (I think)
Gerry means Music Store, not Music Share (I think)
Correct.

Thanks Guys, problem is I created a share 'network music' which the HDX has not acknowledged, and is not showing up on the Desktop Client. That's why I'm looking for a pathway for the HDX to 'go and find the store'. I must be making a silly error somewhere, but cannot find the solution as yet.
Just a quickie - how do I promote it to a music store?
To promote to music store,go to Tools>Music Repositories>Scanable Network shares then highlight it and click Use as Store on the right.
Gerry
Thanks Gerry, wil try this tonight when I get home.
just a note that when you create new network shares and music stores. Sometimes it takes ages for the HDX to see the location and it is often useful to go through a reboot process to force a rescan of the system where it would then recognise the new location.
