Nserve online album lookup doesn't work after IOS 6 update

Posted by: Name on 26 September 2012

Since updating my iPad to IOS 6 I haven't been able to perform an onine album cover search to track down the pesky album covers that aren't automatically found. One pushes the online search feature but nothing happens, anyone else running the latest apple ios with the same problem?

My n-Serve works perfectly fine with IOS 6. You could try an uninstall - reinstall of n-Serve.

Thanks Gerry, just tried the uninstall of nserve on the ipad and redownloaded from the apps store fortunately still  the same. When I push the change cover button and select websearch nothing happens.

I have the same problem. Interesting, when I turn the iPad I can see the covers (google), but kind of not completely. Hard to work with.

I also reinstalled the app, restarted the UServe but without any success.

Shame, sorry not sure I can help any further. But when you say nothing happens, what exactly displays on the screen?.

After I push the button "search online" all the album information disappears on the lower half of the page. The picture stays on top.

Same problem for me. If you turn the iPad the google search results do appear, but upside down. Very odd.

Stefan, your right if I keep the iPad in landscape nothing happens, if I rotate it to portrait I can see some of the google search for album covers. This is better than nothing and allows me some images. Hopefully naim will fix this.

I'm a bit relieved to see it's not just me.  I also have the same problem.  When I try to edit the album in landscape mode the app closes completely.  It kinda of works in portrait/vertically only it cuts off half the display.  There is definitely an issue with album edit right now in my software too, exactly as others described.  I think it was post OS 6 update also.  I was hoping the 1.6d update I just made would fix it, but no go...

Naim are you aware of this?  Are you working on it?  ;-)

I have just emailed naim customer support with a link to this thread.

So how is this issue going to get resolved as I have the same problem and it's bloody annoying?

A FINE point Bart - why didn't I think of that?!  ;-)  BTW, I should also say that reloading the app did not do anything for me either.  Yes - Maze - VERY annoying indeed.  I trust they will get it resolved, hopefully sooner than later.

As this only happened after you updated to iOS6 shouldn.t you be asking the same of Apple

Totally agree!

Making NStream work on Android devices is way more important...

Not really. Software developers get access to early versions of any new OS to test their applications against, ready for the release. Some developers are quicker than others to update their applications. I have had a slew of updates to apps making them IOS6 ready and I am still running IOS 5. I've had notifications telling me that IOS6 is available for my iPhone and iPad for a week but I choose to ignore them until all my essential/favourite apps are IOS6 ready.

Users are also responsible for not changing OS too early if developers of their favourite apps are slow to update.

this is getting out of hand

Have found an answer that I've been using as a solution tonight.  Have iPad 3 with iOS 6, and when I edit cover art in n-serve, simply rotate my iPad 90 degrees (e.g. landscape to portrait) and you'll see the artwork appear before you. You can then scroll through and select artwork in the usual fashion. I've ripped 128 albums today (onto my new UnitiServe SSD) and have found this works well where covers have needed to be changed.

Now, isn't that better than getting angry!

Enjoy! George

The only issue GeeJay is that is not a solution for me and I believe others bc even in portrait mode it still doesn't not work properly. Yes you can access part of the album page, but not all of it and is clearly not working smoothly at all and not in landscape at all as it use to. If you like it that way, you should see it when it works properly!

The response from Steven Hopkins and I quote :

"Hello

We have had no other reports of problems with our APP and iOS 6, my colleagues iPad unit froze and had to be replaced on updating to iOS 6!"

Not sure what that means?

Maybe if other users experiencing the problem should email naim customer service as well.

...and so what is happening then to all the other people on this thread? I also, really cannot confirm that it was OS 6 was the issue, it could be something else.  All I know is it is definitely not working properly now.  Hmm.......?!
