Posted by: Richard S on 06 October 2012

Amazon are offering the forthcoming Neil Young & Crazy Horse Triple LP "Psychedelic Pill" on pre-order today for a bargain £18.85

By comparison it is 75 quid on HMV online...

I've just pre-ordered and thought a few others might be interested.

Me too. Estimated delivery next Tuesday. A veritable bargain for the original asking price and well done Amazon for honouring it, although I don't agree with their tax avoidance.

Anyone else who bought the vinyl having trouble getting the LPs to slip back into the jacket?  I gave up and put them between the gatefold covers then the whole set back into the plastic outer sleeve.  Afraid I was going to tear the jacket.  Good thing it has the quality inner sleeves.

I wish I had the vinyl but surprisingly the CD suffers from the same thing. In the crappy cardboard cover edition, space is so tight with the booklet in place that "rubbing" one side od a CD is inevitable - at least on my copy.

Maybe it is part of Shakey's masterplan to convert everyone to bluray.

Joe,

They are tight but I never put the records back in the jacket, always preferring to keep the LPs separate from the jacket in a poly sleeve to avoid ring wear on the jacket. I store all my records this way. A little tip from a long time record collector.

Going off topic for a moment:

Steve, what poly sleeves do you use / prefer?

I use Nagoka and MFSL.

Richard,

I use simple cheap poly-lined paper sleeves from Covers 33. Every time I clean a record I change the inner. I find the Nagoka and MFSL type sleeves are sometimes hard to find the opening and they tend to 'drag' and rub over the vinyl surface on removing the LP.

Thanks Steve, will try them.

The thin poly sleeves are also good. I'll email you.

Steve J,
Thanks for your reply.  I read on the RCM post about how you store your records and it makes perfect sense to me.  The only other way to prevent the outer sleeve from bunching is to install it with the opening facing upwards, but then you'd have to handle the jacket and sleeve each time you play the LP.  So, I'm going to try your way.

I should say here that there appears to be a debris issue with a recent batch of MoFi sleeves.  I made a post regarding it.  Here's a link: https://forums.naimaudio.com/di...11#23107822502163411 - it's one of the latest posts.

BTW, Steve, thanks for all your help/advice on the RCM post .

I despise the cardboard "eco" covers.  I took all my CDs from the Beatles remaster sets and put them in jewel cases.  It's the only way to handle them.  Doesn't end up being very "eco" does it?

Joe,

I know the problem with the MFSL sleeves and I find it's a problem with other antistatic inners without paper outers.

Thanks for the positive comment.
