Good Vibrations in Stereo ??

From The Sunday Times today.
DIE-HARD fans of their music may not be impressed but the Beach Boys love what an Irish sound engineer has done to Good Vibrations, their ground-breaking single from 1966.
Working with original mono master tapes, Derry FitzGerald, a member of an audio-research group at the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT), has used “stereo extraction” to create a remix of the iconic track which will feature on a reissue of the band’s Smiley Smile album.
For Beach Boys fans, a full stereo rendering of Good Vibrations has long been considered a musical holy grail. Despite many attempts down the decades, until now nobody had succeeded in upgrading the original mono recording to a modern stereo format.
