Nirvana reached, so goodbye!

Now I read and read and listened and listened and GOD so many opinions there are about naim equipment!
The joint summary is:
1. That many here is completely stuck in the upgrade hell!
2. That naim sounds like naim sounds, not like the music does!
Therefore, I have now given up my naim system and bought something that sounds like it should sound, like music!Audio Research Vaccum tube preamp, Vaccum tube power amp and a CD8. All from the Reference Series. And this comes together witha pair of second-hand Wilson Audio Sofia 2.
Really nice and sounds like heaven! Sooo Goodbye all Naimianer and good luck in the quest for nirvana!Tip: If you want to reach nirvana, change brand!

Nah, matey. Don't go that route....
Last time I went in one of those was about fifteen years ago on a Friday, having flown back from Oslo, visiting my grandmother.
I arrived at Shrub Hill at about 8 pm on the Paddington to Hereford Express. with a fiver in my pocket! I was looking at a four mile walk back home with two heavy cases - SAS do not charge for more than 20 kg.for the hold bad, so I was well laden!
I jumped into a Taxi and the driver enquired if it had been a good week at work [presumably he meant in London, as I looked very smart], to which I replied that was back from a family visit in Norway - proffered my fiver, and asked him to take as far as the money would go! Saved me three miles' walk, so a bargain!
Fortunately I had a nice Bordeaux in the house when I got in!
Work on Monday!

Dear George,
Being fond of Volvo cars are you sure it wasn't one of these?

Tony
I thought those were Front Wheel Drive!
I like cars with a proper driving back axle!
ATB from George
PS: Tony, the Carlton will slip the back wheel easily on the leaves at the moment! The old 240 was even capable of being a bit slidy at the rear in the wet at this time of year!
An Amazon was even better at this, but the chance to fit chains to the wheels meant they went well in the snow!
Ah, George. You put a smile on my face!
I'll stick to my old 280 E class for the moment. Boring, I know , but then again I do not know many people as adventurous as you on any Naim Forum.
Respect.

Dear Tony,
It is crucial for this forum that there is at least one fly in ointment, who is no Troll!

Ahhhh, and humble as well!

Which thread am I in now ?
............an Amazon thread about cars run by a Norwegian or
............a "goodby thread" run by a Swede who is divorced from Naim equipent but can't bring herself to divorce the forum.
Almost like old times.
Cheers

Dear Don,
As it is goodbye thread perhaps it has become a "Portmanteau" one with suitable travelling "drift" on the journey away!

Ha ha, nice reminder, it really started out IMHO as an "I'm here and want to be noticed" thread.
How's the thinking re an Amazon going ? I know its early days, but Richard indicated that Amazons are pretty pricey due to their emerging Classic status. Have you prodded the market to see whether its a realistic future project ?
Cheers
Don
Dear Don,
I had a bit of a probe. Late ones seem to start about £2K, which I would think was okay subject to a look at it on the ramp! And a proper test drive, not just round the houses lets say, but onto a decent main road for half an hour.
Minters make silly money though!
It is probably a none starter, but the nicest thing about acquisition is the anticipation! So plenty of a dreaming may bring more pleasure than actually getting!
If I saw a good one at the right price, then I'd go for it, subject to inspection and test drive. I prefer the two door version, as it stronger and lighter. In the UK this is the least desirable variant!
ATB from George
Good luck and I hope you keep us up to date with your dreaming anticipation and/or any potential aquisition
Cheers
Don
Dear Don,
If it happens then I guess that the Carlton will be seen on a roof rack on the top of the Amazon!
So any developments will appear there on the Carlton thread as I expect this one will expire first!!
