I want to wean myself off an Amazon habbit so have bookmarked Piccadilly, Diverse and MDT but who do others use? By the way Piccadilly have Bish Bosch vinyl for half the Amazon UK price.

If they changed to use a standard credit card with consumer rights protection then I'd use them, but PayPal = no way, Pedro.

All music is actually importcds.com and you can order direct and pay by CC.

I try to only use PayPal when paying anything overseas and ebay. PayPal offers you a form of protection and if you pay using your CC then you also can ask your CC to do a chargeback if PayPal rules against you.
I would never use evil bay or PayPal ... Your consumer rights are not the same.

i am happy to trust some shops, but not PayPal. if a shop relies on PayPal or eBay then I simply look elsewhere..

if you're happy with them that's fine.

Hi Guido, in actual fact in the UK your shopping rights online are covered by the Distance Selling Regulations of 2000 or DSR as they are commonly known. You have exactly the same rights as buying goods over the counter plus some others such as you can cancel most transactions with 7 working days as you are not viewing the products in a shop.

One thing that bothers people when buying from fleabay is the amount of times you see in a listing the seller does not accept returns. This statement is in fact against UK Trading Standards and DSR regs as they must accept returns. If you purchase a product this way from fleabay as long as you send it back tracked then you will receive your money back and if they haven't put in the listing who pays for returns then they must.

Re fleabay you have more issues if you are a seller than buyer having bought and sold there over 2000 cd's and other products for over 11 years.

Yes PayPal does have this if you have a problem send the product back by a "tracked" method which is impractical with certain low cost products but if you link your Paypal account to a CC then you still have that option to do a charge back if PayPal rule against you. Something even PayPal can't stop and are happy to accept.

I have had as many problems dealing with small sellers on Amazon as I have had on flebay. Usually because of badly graded products. One on Amazon even took 3 months to send out a disc to me.

One thing I don't like about Amazon is that they have a restricted claims policy of only 5 claims over the lifetime of your account with them.

Unfortunately I came up against this because of an unfortunate error by a US online selling site who used to list cd's through Amazon. They had a computer glitch and I ordered 5 different ECM albums from them. I ended up having to claim my funds back using Amazon's claim back process. Even though it was a mistake on the part of a seller I had now exceeded my claim so I have no rights to use that service from them anymore as I have been told on a couple of occasions. Consequently I have lost out on a couple of private sales.

The online selling site who had a 100% feedback record at the time had their account suspended by Amazon because of the amount of negative feedback they received from buyers and not because of the amount of emails Amazon were receiving from disgruntled customers. They never recovered as they had to shut down their operation and lay off all their staff. I see they have come back online within the last year again but in a much more limited capacity.

Whereas claims through PayPal is unlimited in this area.

Yep they are both good but if you use Elusive Discs then tell Jason in the Notes part of the order sheet that you would like the discs to be declared at such and such a value then they will do it. That way you can order discs without the fear of getting a hit for customs duty and VAT.

One thing to bear in mind is that if you do this then they will only pay you back if anything goes wrong the amount you have told them to put on the Customs Dec but in years of dealing with them I have not had a single disc go missing.
