Backup plans if UPnP for Mac+iTunes is a failure on a new Naim streamer?

As each week passes with a new Nait XS amp running in, I'm beginning to realise the true value and investment as it/ the Naim sound starts to blossom. To complement and complete the system I'd like to add an ND5 XS, there is a bit of apprehension though when reading some of the horror stories of Uniti- based or other streamer and UPnP servers for Mac & iTunes users. There appears to be a lot of trial-and-error- ness about establishing a reliable UPnP server for Mac computers, various names are coming up including Playback, eLyric, Twonky and Asset. Some require additional faffing around to crossover from Windows to Mac (e.g. Asset).
My only option is wi-fi and so ethernet is totally out of the question. Wi-fi often has the finger pointed at it for being the problem in most network problems, however lots of consumer devices (e.g. budget Panasonic DVD players or Sony televisions) all have quite stable connections to wi-fi where I am so this shouldn't be a major problem.
This may seem like being overly risk-averse but I'd like to have in place as many solutions and contingency plans as possible to any potential problems, since any more Naim equipment, new/ ex-demo or second-hand will be a major investment. The UPnP for a Mac for iTunes Library playback, appears to be the main one, followed by wi-fi connectivity issues.
- Is it possible to narrow down to a shortlist of the "best of the best" UPnP server options for Mac users? The more faffless the better.
- If all of these failed to provide decent UPnP network playback, ideas like Apple Airport Express and Mac Mini come up as a way of bridging a digital signal feed to the network player. Are there any other such solutions?
Last resort would be to have a handful of USB flash sticks or a hard drive loaded with albums to play back through the front socket. The formats are a mixture of mp3, AAC, ALAC and over time higher quality WAV.
