HDX back up query

Anyone,
Im useless on computers....
I have a 1tb back up NAS. Do I set it up as a share or a store?

Once setup, is there a setting do that any new ripped cd's are stored on both HDX and NAS at the same time?

Thanks,

hello Ray,

I also have a 1Tb HDX and a NAS drive.

How you set it up is down to your personal choice. I opted to have ALL my music on the NAS drive and no music on the HDX. With this i also have a seperate stored back up off line to protect against data loss.

If you store on both units there tends to be an issue with the system seeing multiple copies of all albums, which becomes frustrating.

i would recommend creating a network share on your NAS drive and transferring all music to there. Once complete you can then if you wish change this to a music store, and assign this a priority 1 so all future ripped music goes to the NAS

Why have a 1 tb disk in the hdx used for nothing. Use the hdx internal disk for rips, and the nas for backups and when the 1 tb disk runs out of space.

The hdx does not confuse backups with the indexed music.

as stated above, i have 3Tb of music which clearly would not fit on the internal drive.

I have all music on the NAS drive which is used as the music store, and then i have a seperate off line back up copy of all music.
