Streaming from an Ipad

I don't believe its possible to do what you want in the method you describe.

For low quality streams like that you would be better spending a few quid on an ATV or Airport Express. Both have digital out, which plug into the back of your ND5. This can be hidden out of the way, they are tiny anyways.

You can now airplay any audio content from your ipad through this device to the input you have chosen. A very neat solution for 70 quid.

Thanks for that, but the guys in the shop where I bought the ND5 last week suggested it was just a matter of plugging the iPad's output into the ND5's front USB socket for the whole thing to work.

You could certainly hook up the headphone socket to the ND?

Don't know about the ND5 but the ipad works fine into the USB port on the NDX using the standard Apple lead. Having to use a wire is less convenient than being wireless but the sound quality is better than streaming to an Airport Express.

I use it to run the spotify app on the ipad through the NDX and it works very well. The only problem. I have that sometimes I don't get any sound from the spotify app unless I tell iTunes on the ipad to play a  song first and then stop it before switching to spotify. No idea why this is, but it works.

I have an ND5 XS. The easy way to stream to it from an iPad (or anything supporting AirPlay) is to get an AirPort Express, connect the Express digital output to the ND5 and use Airplay to stream to it. It doesn't require a physical connection with the iPad either.

You could also use an AppleTV to do the same thing, but the setup is a bit more involved.

You can with the Naim DAC!!!
