Heads Up - TV Programme for Vinyl Nuts
Posted by: J.N. on 08 November 2012
Thanks for that John, it looks interesting.
We have a very similar shop in Kidderminster with about 50,000 albums/cd's and other stuff.
I was in there last Saturday and was literally having to step over some of the stock because there was nowhere else to put it except in loose stacks on the floor. The owner told me that there were a couple of unsorted collections in the back room "under the fancy dress returns"(!) When I checked them there were
early Floyd albums, pink Island albums - loads of good stuff. I grabbed several but unfortunately the guy referred to the Record Collector price guide but hey that's the business he's in! I did come away with vinyl copies of The Strawbs "Antiques and Curios" and Gilmours "About Face" only to find when I returned home I had already got them so no more impulse buying for me.
Have a good one
Ron
John,
Thanks for the heads up.
IT does look very interesting.
There is a Sandy Denny tribute concert tonight on the BBC TV.
Great line up of people.
Stu.
Cheers my old booty.
Anyone else seen it? A great programme. The sort of gem that BBC4 does so well.
It featured some serious vinyl-heads, and a wonderful array of interesting characters. Long may the shop survive.
John.
A touching, affectionate documentary. Who amongst us could not see part of ourselves in some of the people in the film. It's on again on Sunday night at 02:20, BBC 4.
Next week is "The Joy of the Single" which looks equally as good. Friday night on BBC4 does throw up some great programmes.

Yes I saw it and it definitely hit home .... a lot of very nice people collecting music.
Agree that is what BBC4 does best.
Many thanks for the heads-up. This was great. Highly enjoyable and quite touching. i would have thought it's a must for anyone on the forum. Try to catch it if you still can.
Just watched it on iPlayer. A great programme. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing the scene and 'meeting' the people who frequent 'Soundit Out'. A real bright spot on the landscape.
Thanks for the tip John. Brilliant documentary at the intersection of music and society. Touching as someone said above. Good luck to the shop and their community.
A tear in my eye when Shane told his story and the vinyl coffin bit. Damn allergies!
Very enjoyable interesting documentary.
