n stream 3.2 is out.

Posted by: Dustysox on 12 November 2012

Folks,

3.2 is up and running!

Not loaded it yet. Hopefully some "treats" in there from wish lists.

Have just upgraded and now have "No servers" in n-stream

Posted on: 13 November 2012 by thebiglebowski

have found that if I check and then uncheck upnp compatability a few times the media server may appear in the list. No matter what I do though cannot get it to detect the device in the settings.

I was using this right before upgrading without any issues.

Installed - minimal change - faster on ipad 3 and IPhone 5 - seems to like Vortexbox. Progress is glacial though. Tog

Agreed Tog, this update is nothin to get excited about. As we already know important features like track fast forward/ rewind will require a streamer firmware update, so maybe still some way off.....

I have a similar issue. I can start playing a list of tracks or a playlist. All of a sudden, however, replay stops and when I try to continue the replay the message "connecting" or "No servers" appears (on nstream as well as on the display of the Uniti).
Stopping nstream an restarting AssetUPnP solves the problem for some tracks. Not sure whether this has to do with my temporary server setup (USB-HDD connected to a hard-wired laptop running Asset) or is related to nstream 3.2.

I had the same. Toggling a few time betwwen "UpnP Compatibility mode" on/off, restarting the iPad and restarting Assett, made everything running fine now. Performance of the app indeed improved.

Cheers,

Iver

I also tried uninstalling/reinstalling the app but now when is starts says "no streamers"

It can't find any devices and if I switch auto search off it doesn't let me type in an IP address.

App is now completely useless, going to phone naim this morning but if they can't resolve it the Qute is going back to audio-t and I'll be using the sonos again. Might not sound as good but at least it works and the interface is slick.

Come on naim it's the little things like this that will ruin a reputation.

I can't get this version of the app to work either .... definitely won't be considering another Naim streaming unit ... It is just too hit and miss. Fortunately I can use the UQ as a DAC/amp ... I have upgraded the Sonos software and Apple Remote several times and it just works ..... OK, I'll try resetting everything later, but this really isn't very good.

Well this is ironic i've installed the Linn Kinsky app and it detects my unitiqute and I'm able to see my vortexbox and play songs ok.

DIdn't see the word update in the thread title, and couldnt see Year in last version of N-Stream on Itunes when I looked so I was hoping it was new. But a quick  'Yes' after asking three times would probably be more helpful than querying which thread the question is posted in! I help out on a lot of other forums, Photography, Music, geocaching etc, and people there actually try and be helpful without such negative remarks . Thanks for your time in answering.

Andrew,

Came home after a long day at work and when catching up with Forum whilst preparing my evening meal I noticed that you had asked the same question three times without a reply.  I therefore battered out a quick reply and then get rebuked for negativitiy.  I suspect that your next query will go unanswered.

Hi Forester, I explained why I thought it might be new in this release as all google attempts did not show it included.  Not sure why you would like to think I would not get future replies, not very friendy but maybe thats how it is with some here. Sorry you had a long day at work ;-)  Lets move on, more pressing matters with the problems encountered on this release which as you say is the thread's main purpose.

As an ex-programmer and software tester, I am surprised that some of you guys had not been invited to beta-test a release like this under-wraps. I beta-tested Tag Maclaren's processor software for many years which came out on a regular basis. Some problems yes, but we had signed up so expected them. On release, the vast majority of issues had been ironed out, and the releases showed the firm in a good light. It costs a manufacturer nothing and prevents some of the displeasure from owners.

Hi Andrew, it is, confirmed. In Info, just after the section with tracklist

Posted on: 14 November 2012 by Bart

I've installed 3.2 on my iPhone 4s.  My uServe happened to be 'off,' and my nas was in sleep mode, so I turned on the uServe, let it boot up (which also woke up my nas), and then launched nStream.

Everything seems fine -- it sees both the Serve and the nas music in all of their places.

Thank you for checking, much appreciated Iver

No problems here.

Posted on: 14 November 2012 by thebiglebowski

Have just tried to uninstall and reinstall the app and after reinstalling and starting app it says no streamer configured, goes to settings and searches and hey friggin presto................

................no chuffin streamer found.

Now I can't even do anything with it.

Posted on: 14 November 2012 by Guido Fawkes

Powered down UQ for an hour and deleted and reinstalled app ... powered up UQ and it now works ... whilst this is unreasonable it would be good practice if Naim could say if installation upgrade is unsuccessful then try ..... it would stop a lot of frustration. UQ sounds a bit tinny after being powered down though ... I'm sure it'll be all right soon.

I would certainly need to be confident all these issues were a thing of the past before considering NDS ... the SQ is superb, but well we just want something that is easy to use.

Anyway I'll listen to Beatles vinyl instead ...

@ thebiglebowski -> I'm guessing you tried what I did - if not hope it works for you too.

I have to say that my experiece of NStream with 'Qute and SU fed by Vortexbox using both Ipad2 with IOS 5 and 6 / Iphone 5 hs been pretty solid.

No problems here -all working first time. Qute, Synology NAS, iMac+Playback, iPhone 5, iPad Mini
Posted on: 14 November 2012 by Bart

Hopefully folks, before concluding that the app is fatally flawed, do the simple thing of powering down the relevant networked parts, power them back up to get them back on the network, and then run the app.

Which is what it sounds like Guy did

I am hard pressed to conclude that the app is flawed because it can't find a networked device the first time it is run; I'm more likely to blame the way iDevices (can't always) find networked devices; it's not plug-n-play, entirely, it seems.

The first time I installed my HP app, it did not see my existing/networked HP printer.  Rebooted the printer, then re-started the app, and voila.

Same here - installed and worked straightaway - UQ/ReadyNAS/iPod.

Faster loading of menus/lists very noticeable (and playlists now show album art - or did I miss that one before?!?)

I downloaded the app onto my 4S phone. At first I got a 'no server found' message. I went to the 'input' section, and UQ was found. It took two tries for Playback to show up, then it all went smoothly. I haven't spent much time with it, so I can't offer any insights regarding extra features, I think the recent update of a few months ago had more notable updates regarding the interface. Which, by the way, I like very much.

UQ + Neat Mystique 2. Wireless from iMac to router to UQ.

My disappering playlist and missing cd collection was a coincidence and Phil Harris has restored them for me remotely. Thanks Phil much appreciated.
