Actually the move to 5.1 sound actually killed my interest in audio in the 90's. Too much work, too many speakers, and music sounded lousy through the systems I had during this time... not to mention that the system was so complicated only I could run it. I abandoned my audio quest for over 10 years due to the sour taste of this experience.
Most recently I have added an Apple TV and 42 inch flat screen to my listening room and use it for watching movies through my SuperUnit... great 2 channel sound and dead simple.
I'm quite happy to save the surround experience for the cinema, and focus on outstanding, simple 2 channel sound at home :-)
