Qute problems with n-stream

Posted by: Folorin on 19 November 2012

Hi,

Im a recent convert to Naim and am experiencing some issues. I bought my Qute approx 2 months ago only to have it die with an unrepairable Fault 28. Fine, back to the retailer and off to Naim who replaced it. Luckily I could borrow the retailers unit for the two weeks I was waiting.

In comes my new unit, works great except I cant connect using n-stream. The unit is seen in setup but I get the message on the ipad 'streamer not responding'. The previous two worked fine, connected into the same router port. I have tried different ports, wired, wireless, different routers all to no avail.

Does anyone have any ideas before I throw this back at the retailer and switch to Linn as I have rapidly lost faith in the quality of the Naim brand? I little melodramatic perhaps, but extremely frustrating as it requires a 2 hour round trip back to the retailer.

Regards

I've moved this to the Streaming Audio room where you should get some input on this.

Hi,

Can you check that the Qute is running the latest software on it (3.17) and ensure you have done a factory reset on the unit as well?

Cheers

Hi

I have a support call opened now with Naim Engineering Support, so dont want to duplicate effort at Naim.

The app sees the unit in setup but after attempting to connect says 'streamer not responding'. Both my original and dealer loaned unit worked fine.

  • The unit is wired (but wireless doesnt work either). Gigabit network using Cat6 cabling.
  • The unit works perfectly using the hand remote in all other functionality
  • Neither manual nor auto-connection from the app works
  • The unit's ip address can be pinged from the iPad
  • Ipad OS 6.01, App version 3.2, Qute version 3.17.00
  • Different ipads have been used, to no avail
  • Qute plugged into different routers, no luck
  • Factory reset tried, no luck

I have also followed the approach detailed in the link previously posted with the 'streamer no responding' result.
