Just downloaded the new stones album.  Excellent quality (flac) not that new though... Only two new songs.... Ripped to my nas and ripped by the stones... I hear that they are the only band to have released more compilations and best hits albums then actual studio albums!!! Still enjoying the three disc release though.....

I'm waiting for my 3 cd "deluxe" set from Amazon. Decided not to go down the HD Tracks route this time.

I've never been a Stones fan, they seemed to pass me by, but I really like the new single, this could quite possibly be my first Stones purchase.

No need to go down the HD Tracks route, it's available via the Linn Records site.

You have much yet to learn young Jedi, I mean Paul.
Listen to Exile on Main Street and if you don't feel the force just join The  Beatles brigade on the not so dark side.

Who's to say those on the Beatles brigade can't enjoy both?  I've got an appreciation for "the dark side", as you call it.  John Lennon certainly had his, as well.

Don't worry if you haven't heard much of the Stones - you'll be hearing "Gimme Shelter" on the soundtrack to the end of the world .

Any idea on when that soundtrack will be released?  Should we look to the Mayan calendar?

Hope not - I'm just about to send my Christmas list to Santa!

I imagine you'll be able to place an order for it on Amazon, but that they may have trouble delivering. Knowing my luck, The End Of The World OST will start off with Gimme Shelter and continue with the Birdie Song, Agadoo etc.

Some, like me, can be in both camps.  The Beatles had their darker side, and the Stones had their lighter side - No?

Joe,

If one is to believe all that one reads, The Beatles were no angels and, thanks to some very astute  and clever marketing, even in those days, they manage to hide their not so soft side. Still respect and consider JL one of the best lyricists of all time. Now, why don't you say something nice about The Stones since you seem to be so  "appreciative" of both bands?

The fact that this post dealt only with the Stones may speak to the omnipresence of the Beatles' music in our culture.  Enough said, and I no longer want detract from the original post.  I like ‘em both, though admittedly, not equally.  I absolutely love the “Some Girls” LP.  It’s among my favorites.

Joe,

My original response to Paul's comment  was meant to be somewhat light hearted.

Take it easy and speak soon
