Neil Young Psychedelic Pill Vinyl

Posted by: Steve J on 01 December 2012

The vinyl bargain of the year arrive this morning; £18.83 from Amazon.

Joy of joys. At last a new vinyl issue that is analogue all the way from recording to final mastering. And it shows, the SQ is superb with none of the obvious digital compression heard on so many new recordings. Joe Bonamassa and John Mayer should take note.

I'm only half way through but this is vintage Neil Young and Crazy Horse. Young's vocals aren't aged in any way and Black Beauty, his vintage black Gibson is on song, the wonky valve in his amp is still giving that grungy warm distortion.

Even at the full price I think this is to be recommended. It gets my vote for vinyl album of the year.

As it says on the front cover;  BECAUSE SOUND MATTERS.

Richard,

You won't want to turn it off. Ask your wife to watch X-Factor as well.

Love the alternate take of the title track and also the final track. TBH there isn't a weak track on it.

Enjoy

I'm listening now. Musically it's very, very impressive. The pressing and SQ are both excellent as well, which make for a nice bonus.

Believe me that even on CD this is a great piece of work!
