That time of year again. SWMBO will shortly be sending me into the loft to collect the decorations etc. Really looking forward (not) to having stacks of Christmas cards on top of the NAC52, though this year I am going to be resolute and insist that there be none on top of the LP12.   Bah humbug ...

Those of you running your tree lights on the same circuit as you hi-fi can look forward to some interesting sound effects?

Ours is up in the living room. A live blue spruce in a pot this year. It's nice. (The lights don't seem to be affecting the hi fi.)

My wife started a nice tradition years ago. She buys us each a small decoration with some special meaning each year. The resulting collection of tree ornaments grows each year, and each has a bit of a story to tell. Mine this year is a tiny, blue Día de los Muertos ceramic skull she picked up when we were in Mexico earlier in the year. It's really cool.

We also put up some fairy lights at the front gate. Our decorating efforts are more Simpsons-like than Flanders-like for sure, though.

If you want to get a consistent glow from your lights it's worth upgrading the fuse but you'll need to conduct a blind test to assess if there is any benefit.

I had the fuse backwards on our lights when I first hooked them up. Ugly as sin. Looked broken. Unviewable. I switched the fuse around and now they glow with pleasant cheer. Almost holographic.

We went digital a few years back. Have now switched back to an old analogue set. Oh the warmth! The atmosphere created! OK it crackles, fizzes and pops every now and then but it is a revelation.
