Strange Question?

Posted by: Lewy on 12 December 2012

Hi guys

I am considering moving from CDX2.2 NDAC and XPS2 to:--

NDS and 555 DR PSU

Is this a strange question, Is the NDAC no not required?

By this, I mean is the DAC in the NDS equal to the NDAC unit sonically?

I was wondering whether or not to keep the NDAC

Regards

Jason Gould from Naim confirmed DAC in the NDS will out perform DAC in NDAC.

Improved isolation and suspension.

To an extent it's a matter of taste as there are some here who prefer the presentation of the DAC to the NDS, however IMO the NDS provides a more polished, musical and essentially 'right' presentation. I moved from a DAC / 555PS DR to the NDS / 555PS DR a few months ago, trading in the DAC along the way.

How are you finding the change?

Did you not have a Naim CDP previously?

I have been playing around with the NDAC presently and getting some positive results with high res FLAC files

A very positive change Lew. Certainly would not go back. The DAC is very capable, but the NDS is more fluid, more organic, more.... musical. To work it's best it really need as 555PS DR though, so it's really a £12k source, so for that money you would expect something pretty good.

On HiDef it's really excellent, but its also very good on CD rips - it manages to extract every ounce of musical information and present it seamlessly.

Overall, I'm a very happy man, just keep wondering about a 552 now..............

Noo Dave,

Don't do it, don't cross over to the dark side. It seems that people who have the 552 then add NDS seem to disappear from the forum!!!

Despite the  overwhelming quality of music in my life, I'm sure I could still find the time to post here occasionally....

Nice!

They all say that, and one by one they disappear with the 552'/NDS never to return!!! Only to surface for a DR upgrade!!!

I feel so used!!!!!
