n-serve for Mac

Posted by: Frits Van Der Veer on 13 December 2012

Naim mentioned a n-serve app for the mac in their 'Naim the future for hifi " guide, http://www.naimaudio.com/sites...-hifi_mini-guide.pdf

Does someone know wher to download it?

I tried the appstore, Naim site and Google, but couldn't find it.

Thanks

Frits

If you type Naim into the search area on the Apple App Store you will find the n-serve app, We are still waiting for the Mac version of the desktop client & the big 1.7 update for the servers, Naim any chance these will be released before Xmas?

Looks very much like an error. There's no such thing as n-Serve for Mac as far as I know. But as Goonerdude pointed out, there's a DeskTop Client for Mac coming out soon (hopefully; in private beta at the moment), so that will get you covered I guess.

This pointed me to have a look at the Mac App Store and there's an independant (from Naim, that is) app called QuteControl to control the UnitiQute. Anyone using this ?

In the Mini-guide even a picture of a mac running the n-serve is shown. So i guess it will follow soon. May be Naim itself can comment on this.

I am not using Qutecontrol. I have a superuniti and use n-stream (satisfied customer) in combination with a Mac-mini running plex as UPNP-server.

Frits can you post a link to that Mini-Guide?  I am surprised

Why would you want nServer on a Mac ... you can run it on your iPad.

Most folks use a Mac Mini headless so you couldn't see it

There is probably a reason that I've overlooked ... I'm all for more apps for the Mac though ... Apple Maps on my Mac runs a treat ....

I am hoping/ think i will be able to address my settings via the n-serve app on the mac. At least that is what i concluded from the piece and photo. May be some wishful thinking is involved as well :-)

it states:

n-Serve control app

Browse and edit playlists on Naim hard disk and server products
• Search and save favourite internet radio stations
• Edit and organise music library
• Available on iPad, iPhone, iPod touch and Mac

Thanks for posting the PDF, It looks the the n-Serve app for the Mac might replace the desk top client that we are all waiting for. Must say I'm happy with the flash based client that I'm using on my Mac to control the UnitiServe, wonder if the new app will have any new features.

Oh but you're right ! Apologies.

The picture is blurred, but perhaps it's the new name of the DeskTop Client ?

Heh look at that, "Naim's new nServe app for Mac"

Guy -- for my evening web-browsing, forum-reading, music downloading and tagging and organizing, online shopping, etc etc "recreation" as I relax, I resort to my Macbook Pro.  If I'm on the Macbook already, it would be nice to also be able to play the music from that same device.  And I "assume" (always dangerous) that such an app for OS X would also do all of the DTC duties; we know that's in development.

I would not pick up a Mac in the first instance merely to play music, but if I'm on it already it'd be nice to not have to pick up my iPhone which is what I do now.

Correct - it's the name for the OSX version of Desktop Client...

I use QuteControl for my SuperUniti on my mac.  I love it, used it on my Qute when I had it.

+1 .... a full desktop version makes perfect sense definitely a move in the right direction

I'm looking for vast improvements in the OS X version vs. the Windows DTC which, because criticism is free, is very non-intuitive and disorganized.

I only use the DTC for functions that cannot be performed from the Flash-based browser interface or nStream or nServe.

Guys if you are going to quote several pieces in one post please try and keep the different post separate  or at least a different colour, it is almost impossible to decode some of these posts.

Apologies BigH47, I haven't used the reply buttons before and I'm obviously not up to speed.

Anyway, has anyone got tips (like which vpn app) on remoting to a Mac mini? Does headless Mean without screen and keyboard attached?
