Can anyone "walk" me through any changes I need to make to my computer (Samsung NP300E note book runing Windows Office Home and Student 2010) to enusre that any HD tracks I download do not loose quality as they pass through the computer. I am using the J Rivers Media Centre. Thanks

I downloaded some of the Linn Xmas 24/192 flac tracks and used VLC to play these to my Qute using S/PDIF.  I heard the music. Now the Qute does not support this format, I therefore conclude that the sound drivers on my PC must have down sampled the music to 24/96 or maybe less.  It is a pity that the Qute does not display the format of S/PDIF inputs.

Got to Player>DSP Studio>Playback options.

You can have everything play natively (standard), or have J River up or down sample as needed.  And you can apply this setting to each unique sample rate.  For example you can ask JRiver to downsample 24/192 to 24/96 but leave everything else as native.

Also, you can hover your mouse over the right-most little button at the top right.  This will show you exactly what is happening with the currently playing file.  You can also easily get into the Playback options here.
