Expensive vinyl discovered woohoo

Posted by: tonaimbutafew on 16 December 2012

Now that my lp12 Nima is finally up an running I've started to go through all the vinyl that I've collected over the last year an check the price on the book to see what I can find. The best so far is trees on the shore original press the record is mint an sounds amazing the sleeve is near perfect an says its worth £250 mint in the book. Hope I come across some more hidden treasures as I've still got loads to do.

So my question is what beauties have you found an what were they worth.

I have the Record Collectors book but find it's not very accurate, although it's useful for identifying valuable records. I find popsike the most useful, it shows actual prices attained on ebay. Subscriptions are about £16 for 6 month or you can search about 10 records a day for free.

I picked up a copy of Grieg's Peer Gynt SXL 2012 Wide Band Grooved for 50p at a car boot, sold it for over £200.

Found a very rare copy of the Fun House by the Stooges in a box I bought at an auction, I don't actually know what it's worth,. I've been offered £400 for it but been advised it's worth at least £1000.

As I've posted before the best bargain I've had was Dr Ross 'Flying Eagle' for 60p at a car boot sale in the early '90s.This LP is very very rare and the Record Collector book only reflects what the last one sold for many years ago. It is estimated to be worth about £3000-5000 now. For many collectors this is the 'holy grail' but I would never sell it so it's value is academic.

I have some Nimbus pressings that fetch high prices (between £100 - £500). Sgt Peppers, Wish You Were Here, Band on the Run & Breakfast in America. Bought in the 80's from Hi-Fi Choice magazine for about a fiver each. Academic though, as I've never sold any of my vinyl.
