Dodgy email

Trying to work out exactly what the scam is here...

Had a couple of emails straight into junk with Postal delivery type headings and from unknown email adresses

Both are written in complete bollox, have put a FedEx logo into the email saying their 'postrider' was unable to deliver package and I should go to nearest depot to collect it

What's in it for the sender? Is it just trying to get loads of people into Fedex offices to piss 'em off?

**Ah, just noticed there's something to click on to get 'receipt' to take in to the office. Ok that will be it then...Sure enough there's a piece on FedEx site about it.

I presume these things must work at least just enough still, to make it worth the sender's while?

It establishes a valid and active e-mail addy and might get user information if said user is careless.

Many "ring no person" phone calls are also used to establish working numbers and an answering pattern.

I've about 5 or 6 of the FedEx ones,  2 in 1 day

Ditto my wife & everyone I've spoken to.

Also the same type of mail about a UPS parcel I need to call about,  must have had that one 20+ times in the last few months

I've also been contacted from UK & overseas banks, & the scary thing is I do have something in all these banks.  Then I get the same from banks were I don't any business

Like all these mails,  even if you are unsure - DELETE

All bona fide bank business is done by post

And FedEx will leave a card

Canadian Lottery just emailed to say I'd won ... just need to send then $10k to pay tax and they'll release $1m to me ... off to post cheque now - strange thing is I don't remember buying a ticket for the Canadian Lottery and not sure where they sell them around here, but guess I must have done - how else could I win?

It's been my luck year ... still waiting for Prince Kufour Otumfuo the elder son of the late King Otumfuo Opoku of Nigeria to send through some cash he promised ... I hope it arrives before Christmas.

email is a wonderful thing ....

I get all kinds of reminders from banks, PayPal and various postal services and the strange thing is I don't have accounts with any of them ... I've never used an online bank or PaynoPalofMine ... I guess they are just warning me in case I ever do ... amazing thing is some of the banks mispell their own name ... still Borclays is close enough

I've disabled the junk mail filter as I was missing out on loads of great offers

Most of the ones I get seem to be for generic Viagra ... maybe that's telling me something!

OOOO, i got one of those Fedex e-mails a couple of weeks ago. Hung onto it just in case it was genuine, but then forgot about it.

Now deleted.

Cheers
