Amusing Album Titles

Posted by: joerand on 20 December 2012

At times, I like to page through the Rolling Stone Album Guide while I listen to music.  A band from my area, Modest Mouse, has some humorous album titles;

Any others?

Any others?

I think you need to provide a parental advisory when you mention that one.

Chumbawamba albums often have interesting titles

  • Pictures of Starving Children Sell Records
  • Never Mind the Ballots
  • The Boy Bands Have Won, and All the Copyists and the Tribute Bands and the TV Talent Show Producers Have Won, If We Allow Our Culture to Be Shaped by Mimicry, Whether from Lack of Ideas or From Exaggerated Respect. You Should Never Try to Freeze Culture. What You Can Do Is Recycle That Culture. Take Your Older Brother's Hand-Me-Down Jacket and Re-Style It, Re-Fashion It to the Point Where It Becomes Your Own. But Don't Just Regurgitate Creative History, or Hold Art and Music and Literature as Fixed, Untouchable and Kept Under Glass. The People Who Try to 'Guard' Any Particular Form of Music Are, Like the Copyists and Manufactured Bands, Doing It the Worst Disservice, Because the Only Thing That You Can Do to Music That Will Damage It Is Not Change It, Not Make It Your Own. Because Then It Dies, Then It's Over, Then It's Done, and the Boy Bands Have Won

The last one certainly gave iTunes a headache.

Of course Caravan gave us

  • If I Could Do It All Over Again, I'd Do It All Over You

  • For Girls Who Grow Plump in the Night
  • Cunning Stunts

And Alberto Y Los Trios Paranoias gave us

  • Italians From Out of Space

The second album by the Travelling Willburys was called

  • Traveling Wilburys Vol. 3

And most of HMHB titles are designed to amuse ... none more so than

  • Back In The DHSS
  • Voyage To The Bottom of the Road
  • Trouble Over Bridgwater

So lots I'm sure and I have even mentioned Teddy Boys Don't Knit by Vivian Stanshall.
