The UK must be the most successful entrant in the competition.
We won it a few times when it was a "game" but now that the cost of staging the show has rocketted beyond belief, we have successfully avoided a win, without the need to withdraw (unlike a few counties this year) and without making the strategy too obvious........

Several countries have indeed withdrawn on the grounds of cost. We're British! Why can't we simply be honest and say we're withdrawing because the whole thing consists of laughably bad turgid shite? And that includes our own recent entries.

I was under the impression that we had to stump up a sizeable sum to whichever country was the host. It's why we always have an entry in the main event and can't be voted out in the preliminaries.
