HI-Def WAV

Posted by: The Strat (Fender) on 25 December 2012

Guys,

I'm in completely foreign territory here so excuse me not using the Search facility but don't know where to start!!!

But simple question if I get a hi-def 24bit download in WAV can I play it in iTunes and on my POD?

Thanks,

Lindsay

No, Apple is limited to 48kHz/16bit.

But you can convert it to a lower number of bits/hertz and play it on an iPod

Or you can download the GoldenEar app and play true high resolution.

Does Golden Ear allow the iPod to play it or iTunes to recognise it at the higher rate?

GoldenEar plays the music itself, it also has its own library so its not integrated with iTunes.

but the sound quality is good.

How does one load the desired flac files onto the iPod if they are not recognized by itunes?

GoldenEar can run its own ftp server, so with any ftp program you can send files to its library.

Also from within iTunes on a PC/Mac you can upload files to the iPxd from the Apps-tab of your connected device. There is a file sharing section on the tab where you can do that for Apps that have local storage. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4094

But I find FTP route the easiest way to upload music files.
