What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Same here Ron. The bass on the opening track just had me hooked.

This has many nice easy swing-sing along styles, very enjoyable, just love those baritones!

But i may need to abandon after Act I due to my apparent flu symptoms.

Off for an early night for me i think : (

I've read so much crap about this album today that, just to celebrate, I'm going to to give a mid-night spin- in full!

On page 66 of this thread, I have embedded a Youtube track from Mick Softely 'Sunrise' album. I can say this album has not shifted from my CDS3 for the last two days, and I have listened to it maybe six times so far. It is very, very strong and comes with the benefit of being very well recorded. It has the fragile beauty in places of Nick Drake, the folk plaintiveness of the best of Donovan and at times has a harder edge while never losing its composure. STRONGLY recommended.

Vlad,

one more legendary clip; you must know.

At first - it's a sense of humour.

After you realize that Jaroussky has outstanding voice; almost the best counter-tenor solo nowadays; the small capella (that two gentlemen) has ultra-excellent voices too; the ensemble has a very special fluidity and sense to 'ostinato-feeling'.

And please remember, it's a Monteverdi's ciaccona from 400 years ago...

What Naim delivers here - a absolute musicality.

Chords,

Thank you, that is a delightful performance. I'm not usually a big fan of counter tenors but one must make an exception in this case. The lady playing on the far left has a trick or two to show Jimmy Page. Double-neck guitars - amateur!

Where were these performers when I was young??? My Amazon wish list is very rapidly mounting.

Thanks also to every one who takes the time contribute to this thread - my musical horizons are expanding so fast!

Regards,

Vlad
