What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

LP - Back-To-Black 180gram 2013 reissue : )

A recent reissue of Neil Young’s 1985 LP of laid back country songs, an excellent compilation that fits together very well as a pleasant easy listening album.

I’m particularly impressed with the vinyl replay that sounds like it may be analog all the way with no digital nasty remastering, or are my ears deceiving me?

I could do with some confirmation on this if anyone knows?

Presently available from Amazon.uk for £17.48

Deb,

Knowing how Neil Young feels about the digital format I think it's highly likely this album was mastered analogue. Harvest was a beautiful country style album but suffered from digital recording and mastering. In his biography he came to regret that digital period.

I'm currently listening to this exceptional blues album from Alexis Korner, inspired by the Blues thread and my forum friend Graeme.

Fontana 1966 1st press vinyl. One originally from my good old Dad's collection.

Surely not. Harvest dates from 1972 and I'm pretty sure that the first 'digital' LP was Ry Cooder's 'Bop 'Til You Drop' from 1979.

Fraser

'Harvest' is a wonderful recording and yes, 'Bop 'till You Drop', although a first digital-digital recording, sounds good too.

'Harvest Moon' possibly Debs?. G
