What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread. I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.
Nice return to form.. "Addict" is my standout track.

After all that Bach sacred music, time for something a bit more profane.
One of the best - but shortest-lived - of 1970s musical genres was Space Funk - and these guys were among the prime exponents of this fabulous form.
On this 1975 album, "God Make Me Funky", "If You've Got It, You'll Get It" and "Daffy's Dance" are so goddamn funky they should carry some sort of health warning...

I'm a day late, but now listening to the Ricercar consort's masterful St. John's Passion. Smaller scale, more urgent than its more famous sibling.
Cheers,

On vinyl. More for the Stravinsky than the Walton...

One of Paolo Pandolfo's more recent gamba discs is, frankly, a curiosity. The press would have you believe this is supremely well crafted music, expertly performed with intoxicating intensity by Pandolfo. That may be all very well, but whether it's the music or the performance, it leaves me cold.
Please remember that 50-70 years and Germany/France difference is quite big here.
And what I love:
Excellent.

One of the most vivid rendition of Debussy's Prelude Book 1 No.10 & jaw dropping Prokofiev's Suggestion Diabolique ( as his Sofia concert, he's just letting it rip ) with a tongue and cheek sense of humour.

On CD
Bought this for the wife 2 week's ago and it hasn't been out the CDP since.
She must have listened to it 20 times so I thought i'd give it a proper listen.

Sand Denny's re-issued second album on vinyl, excellent,SQ & pressing. This album may have acquired the 'folk rock tag',However such a tag doesn't do it justice, the music is more diverse than the tag suggests imo.
