What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Close to the Edge (currently) from CD3 whilst browsing through the Streaming forum. Trying to prepare myself mentally for the shift from CDS2 to NDS. Scary!

So far I like this Giulini/CSO set. Finally the tune starts to make some sense to me.

..started with something which I would regard as a classic wrong blind buy...

A rare and unusually beautiful Blue Horizon LP. This is a solo album of one of the BH sessions players.

Had a Floyd evening last night, DSOTM on Vinyl followed by WYWH on SACD, that has got to be one of the best musical experiences available being such a good 5.1 mix.

May have been released in 1995, but new to me.  Has been in regular rotation.
