What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Sam Brown - Box

Great singing & playing by Sam and her band who really rock. It has an analogue sound to the recording with real warmth and has an excellent recording of the drumming for Richard Newman, who played with Alvin Lee & Rory Gallagher. Highly recommended.

Performed by friends; very good sound, really...

Chords,

You are very fortunate to have talented friends, their proficient look alone is enough for me to believe they can perform a fine old tune : )

A couple of years ago i considered buying a bass viol in view of learning to play, despite the expense... and difficulties finding a local tutor... there are cello tutors around locally but i guess the cello is too different in technique.

So i put myself off the purchase by watching and listening to novices on you-tube,

thinking i'd probably become no better ; )

I have to confess a slight infatuation with Ms. Marshall, especially after seeing the Avedon photo. In the flesh you think she'd shred like gossamer in the wind

I am currently listening to 6 trax off the new Clarence Bucaro album due out on 28th May.

Wasn't that keen on his last album but this is a return to form for me. Seems like Anders Osborne gets the best out of him.
