With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

That is what this thread (and the music room) is all about to me, Tony.  Sharing, prompting, reminding, sharing new finds, current favorites and past joys.  Enjoy !

And now for something completely different!

Working In The Soul Mine (Original 1966 UK mono vinyl)

John Schroeder worked as an A&R assistant at Columbia Records  He was also a songwriter  and, with Mike Hawker, wrote the hit "Walkin' Back to Happiness", for Helen Shapiro.  In the mid 1960s, he moved to Pye and formed the instrumental  pop outfit Sounds Orchestral. Who had an international hit with their version of "Cast Your Fate To The Wind, He released a large number of easy listening covers of popular songs. While many of these saw little critical acclaim upon release, there was a resurgence in interest in them in the 1990s, when they became popular tracks on the dance scene and appeared on soundtracks to films such as the Ocean's Eleven.
