What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

In a Russian mood.

It's been a while I listen to this album. Still the most powerful record Elton John produced.
Every tune is a gem. No fillers.

Revisiting Beethoven Symphony No.2. Not as famous as his 3rd but I am quite liking it.

Wonderful rendition of Smetana Ma Vlast apparently it was a cathartic experience for most of the audience and orchestra as well because some were in tears at the end of the performance. It was played during a real thunder and lightning storm.

..2nd spin now, I don't like the delivery of the 1st nocture - but after it, it get's better.....but less pronounced as some other versions of these pieces...

..and the conclusion is that I still like this one much more:

Hi Tony, never been a big fan of hers and this album won't change that. It is quite good but I don't like what Ethan Johns has done production wise on this as if anything I like her stripped back sound a little.
