What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread. I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Hi Tony, never been a big fan of hers and this album won't change that. It is quite good but I don't like what Ethan Johns has done production wise on this as if anything I like her stripped back sound a little.
Thanks for that. It does help if you like the music you're listening to. I still like the roughness, simplicity, shyness and ingenuity of her first record. Let's hope this one is not ove-produced.

PS. I still don't know how you got hold of a copy!

Not always the case and that is very much debatable but I appreciate your reply.
Once again, many thanks.
Looking forward to listening to the album.

Horowitz in his absolute prime. (1948-1949)
Remastering engineers did a fabulous job on this from the digital transfer made from the 78 discs.

It's been a while I listen to this album. Still the most powerful record Elton John produced.
Every tune is a gem. No fillers.
Agreed! "Come Down In Time" is my all time favorite, poignant and well imagined.

You can't as any cd-r's he had made (DCC were going to do this title) were sold off in a SH fund raising exercise years ago.
