What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Excellent record.

Very rare as I see.

Highly recommended.

The mother of all soaps, the reason why they are called soap operas, and the most popular opera in its day: La Ponchielli! A great recording from 1981.

This box includes some of the most haunting Debussy ever captured on record.

I am listening to; Across 42nd Street by Bobby Womack, I bought it on cd as a bit of a punt, it's a fantastic album, he is a masterful musician and producer. Protégée to the late great Sam Cooke.

One of my favourite albums of the late 70s. If you haven't seen the movie you missed out, Andy Serkis is amazing as Ian Dury.
