What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

A long time since I put this one on.

I'm beginning to realise I haven't listened to it enough, but that has its advantages!

Punchy, dynamic, progressive on vinyl.  Oh, and Alan White now lives in the Newcastle that is closer to me than to the one in the UK.

A great Astrée from 1994; used a really old Joel von Lennep lute.

Enormous live-feeling-factor.

Thanks, Doug; your ones my pleasure too.

Please note we are the minority here; seems shoulder-to-shoulder posts of 3-4 members.

Haydn's op.33 string quartets, in meaty performances by the Borodin Quartet. The Borodin owe more to the Quartetto Italiano and Amadeus Quartets than modern day practice. But they do it brilliantly!

Stumbled upon this on Spotify.  Very nice on a Sunday lunchtime. Sound quality none too shabby either.
