What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Hi Tony

Listening to it for the first time so too early to really give an opinion of it at the moment. But so far not a great departure from all her previous albums. Need to listen to it more.

I know, but I do like her material. Maybe it's just the interpretations of the songs and the timidity, if there's such a word, of her perfomances.

Cheers,

Tony

This album has now become quite poignant for me as I have just had word that a very old friend of mine has died especially since the last track is Auld Lang Syne.

Recorded at three different studio sessions on February 6 and 9, and May 20, 1963, Evans recorded the album using the then controversial method of overdubbing three different yet corresponding piano tracks for each song. Evans used Glenn Gould's piano, CD 318.

Friend of mine has recommended this record.

Her voice is a litte bit nasal.

The box sets arrive. A nice touch on packaging as each CD has the original vinyl label graphics. Much like their *cover collection*.

This one even has the matte finish blue background and real silver lettering!

Starting from Stokowki's 1929 set with The Philadelphia Orchestra.

The new Graindelavoix record.

Excellent.

Stunning.

Not easy.

Dangerious.

Full of miracle.

Recommended 'in selected theaters'
