What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Aaron Diehl:  The Bespoke Man's Narrative

First listen after a long and exhausting week.  A fantastic bit drawing into the world of Ravel with a Le Tombeau De Couperin - Forlane rendition being one of my favorites.

Thanks Haim for this and your recommendation!

Paul McCartney. Chaos and Creation in the Backyard. On CD from 2005. Though his voice was aging, this may be his finest LP creatively and instrumentally as he played most all the parts. Also a wonderful cover photo taken by his brother Mike. I love this album.

From the 5 CD box-set - playing cd no.3 (pictured below)

A nice energetic sound from an enthusiastic ensemble, very good sound engineering too. But musically i’m not convinced this is an improvement over the concertos by The English Concert conducted by Trevor Pinnock which to my mind have more underlying substance which is nice and easy to relax to, while this Café Zimmermann version seems to liven up the tempo…

Well Graeme on the basis of your post I thought I'd give this album a punt.  It arrived from Amazon today and I'm listening to it now.  Goodness me! This I will be playing a lot. So thank you.
