What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

The Milk Carton Kids at times remind me of Simon and Garfunkel.

I love this album too!

CD versions can be found for bargain prices but i wish it was available on vinyl...

Debs

I was lucky enough to be bought this on vinyl when it came out by my wife, I agree that it's one of his best. I was a bit shocked when working out the insurance replacement value of my 700+ LP's how much this album was being offered for on vinyl. It is available but only if you have VERY deep pockets.

Just a quick listen, but I will probably get this download. Christine sounds as good as ever and I must see her some time. If ever an artist deserved to be recorded by naim it's Christine.

Jurrasic Park! :/

Good God this is a mess.

Boulez set is a bit like earlier Moneux in that there is a ballet lyricism. String-centric and lacking a bit of feel-in-your-gut primitiveness. A great build up of the Sacrificial Dance finale but I wish there were more of that in the middle section, too.

Cello Sonatas:  Yevgeny Sudbin (Piano), Alexander Chaushian (Cello)

Sonata for Cello and Piano in G minor, Op. 19 by Sergei Rachmaninov

Sonata for Cello and Piano in B minor by Alexander Borodin

Sonata for Cello and Piano in D minor, Op. 40 by Dmitri Shostakovich

Songs (14), Op. 34: no 14, Vocalise by Sergei Rachmaninov

Dreaming of future Cello prospects on a greyish, rainy evening:  Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Mendelssohn, Chopin, Brahms, Debussy, Fauré, Saint-Saëns, Poulenc, Prokofiev, Borodin, Rachmaninov, Shostakovich......

So much to do; so little time.  What would life be without music?
