What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Its the time of the day/early eve for a glass of wine and heavenly music to play.  A support the local orchestra fund raiser, $2 album purchase.

On Seraphim - Motets of Thomas Tallis - The Clerkes of Oxenford, David Wulstan, director.  A 1974 re-issue apparently.

The forty-voice d motet Spem in allum in particular is really quite spectacular.

Nothing like a little bit of classic Albert Ketelbey as a precursor to watching some classic old films.

Another $2 "rescue" LP for the local orchestra fund raising.

Neil Young at Massey Hall, just like being there, amazing recording on both vinyl and digital hi-res.

Interesting recording from Cat Stevens, maybe not as strong as Tea for the Tillerman, maybe a bit angrier, but still good.  Original vinyl, not the re-release on 180gm vinyl, so sound is a bit thin but....

Jay Farrar and Benjamin Gibbard:  One Fast Move Or I'm Gone Music From Kerouac's Big Sur

Posted on: 14 July 2013 by patk

Continuing this weekend's Jay Farrar fest.  New Multitudes:  Jay Farrar, Will Johnson, Anders Parker & Yim Yames.  Lyrics by Woody Guthrie (previously unrecorded).  2 CD album.

I got introduced to Jay Farrar from the previously posted album with Benjamin Gibbard (Death Cab For Cutie).  I liked the contrast of his style to Gibbard's, so started listening to Son Volt's albums.

As for this album, it is very good.  If you enjoy the work from the artists involved, you will certainly enjoy this as well.
