Of course I knew of Barry Douglas but I could not think of any recordings that I have of him. I'm sure there are a few that I have somewhere. Pleasantly surprised by his Brahms and am glad he is now on a recording project with Chandos. and look forward to his complete set. This is playing with a clear sense that every note, every phrase, every nuance matters. I couldn't agree more - beauty matters.
Originally my only reservation was that Douglas is mixing up the order. I tend to like or prefer listening as sets. Sort of puts me in the modern league (which I am not) along with the i-Tuners, or what ever they are called, who listen on random. I'll adapt - in this case.

To give you a sense here is Op. 116, No 4. If you are anything like me, you just cannot listen to this once. More like for hours on end and constant repeat and then up throughout the night - alone at the piano in the perfect stillness of low light, cool air and the complete peace of knowing the evil of the outside world does not exist, at least for this brief time - damn the oncoming torture of the hot, bright sun and humidity. Where is that cool fog again or the sky that releases slowly falling, fat, plump snowflakes?
