What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

1969 Liberty vinyl. This one I can strongly recommend Graham. Great British Blues, beautifully recorded. A real favourite.

And? Is it good or just hype?

I'm waiting for mine.

I think it's good. You can tell they mixed it on the fly though as the levels do change  a little.

We'll have to do it soon Kevin.

Yup, I think it's my favourite album this year - a really atmospheric recording and a great (kind of strange at times) way of singing.

While I wasn't exactly expecting many replies to my tl;dr waffling, despite me including a link to a full stream, no one's posted on my Julia Holter thread. Oh well.

CC,

You know people's listening habits tend to be quite conservative in these quarters, including "moi". I do get bored easily sometimes and am always on the look out for something new and your posts are always welcome. I am sure there are some savvy forum  readers and members looking for new blood, musically speaking.  Keep posting CC: someone out there is "listening"!

After seeing her today rehearse for Rachmaninov's second piano concerto.

That must have been quite a nice experience Haim.

Matt,

Unfortunately the conductor had problems with the first part of the program, a Borodin orchestral piece, on which he spent most of the rehearsal time so we got very little of Valentina Lisitsa.

Here she is doing the Rachmaninov Concerto No 2:
