What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Vinyl. New old purchase.

CD

Some older material, first spin of the disc, picked up from a local shop for $2.

So far so good and like the first track "steppin through a time zone"

One of the many excellent Dr Blues recommendations.

"Ohm" - Ellipsis Arts' brilliant 3-CD set of electronic music from 1948 to 1980

Some Classic Tubes, original vinyl and still sounding great.

Trip down memory lane with this one.

Kevin, are you aware that there is also a DVD of this material?

It is fascinating material.

On  30 years old vinyl.

Posted on: 18 August 2013 by Geofiz

43 year old vinyl and still sounding like new.  Will all our digital music copies still be useable after a similar time period?

Another $2 used record special that after a little cleaning is like new again.

Another old disk, first spin after cleaning and surprisingly good after all these years.

One more push boys...

Hi Geoff

I have the 2000 version of the set. I know they reissued it some years later with an extra DVD. I would like to see the DVD but I don't want to buy the whole lot again. Is the DVD available separately?

Cockney Rebel - The Psychomodo.

Bought in 1975 and cleaned using my new Okki Nokki this afternoon.  I'm very surprised at how good it sounds, given how abused this record has been!

It brings back some very happy memories of by teenage years.

This was the UK's loss and Canada's gain.  Classic Long John Baldry on original vinyl.

There are some sellers on both Amazon and eBay.  Amazon has the DVD only, new or used and eBay has the complete boxed set of CD and DVD (new and used).

Heading my local used shop to see if they have it, seem to have everything else.

Although this isn't my personal favorite, I consider this to be their most important album. Still brilliant.

Steve C, I find your musical taste very close to mine. We who are fond of heavier music are scarce here. Let's keep on posting and spreading the good word of metal music.

Still in classic vinyl mode.  Forgot how good this one is.

I was thinking the same Phage. Three more from today.

All on vinyl

Debs, I will join you for some Beethoven. I have your Hewitt disc but I much prefer the old guy from the Czech Republic:
