What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Maurice Ravel:  Lena Neudauer (Violin), Paul Rivinius (Piano), Julian Steckel (Cello)

Sonata Posthume for Violin and Piano

Pièce en forme de Habañera

Berceuse sur le nom de Fauré

Sonata for Violin and Cello

Sonata for Violin and Piano in G major

I have been recently quite impressed by the duo of Paul Rivinius and Julian Steckel.  Add in now Lena Neudauer and still, only good things come to mind.  Of course, I just love the works of Ravel.

Normally I find Zappa's clever-cleverness and strident "wackiness" quite wearing but I do like this record (or CD)

First play of this, from the newly arrived box set. This is the first record I have played but if the others are as good as this on SQ & the quality of the vinyl I will be well pleased. The artwork, covers, & record labels look very good replicas of the originals, which is what you would expect from Rhino Records. Looks good value for £50.

I love this album, although it's a bit early to start waiting the winter.

Well I heard mister Young sing about her
Well, I heard ole Neil put her down
Well, I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern man don't need him around anyhow

I just love this album, some great boogie for air guitar and I just love the reference to ole Neil it makes me smile every time!
