What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested? (Vol.IX)

With 2013 upon us, it's time to start a fresh thread.  I've gone back to an earlier thread title because often the "why" is the most interesting part of the post.

Reminding me of some "hazy" times back in Liverpool as a student:

Last one from the vinyl box set. This is a very impressive box as far as SQ is concerned . All four albums are beautifully pressed, with no surface noise, flat, & nicely produced. All four covers are well printed on thick card with well reproduced inners where appropriate. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about the music...

Graham,

I think Then Play On is pretty good but the rest are patchy at best.

Doug,

I listened to it last evening before sundown, finding deep synergy between the melodies and the late summer calm air and the colors of the yard which are loosing saturation.

Hi Steve .

Could not agree more . Think I would give it a 7 out of 10, its worth the money only if like me you don't have any of the originals.

Hope you are enjoying  the BH

Prior to about 1980 there is a definite embarrassment of riches in the music world.  Roughly 600 years to experience and enjoy unsurpassed musical experiences.  Which often explains why I can be found in front of wall shelf after wall shelf full of music with a perplexed look of angst on my face since it becomes clear that I may never be able to make a decision.  Scratching my head I am often paralyzed by no lack of choice.

So much Biber to relish, so much Buxtehude to relish, so much great Bach & family to relish, so much Beethoven to relish, so much Brahms to relish,  so much Bartók to relish, so much Britten to relish (wait! scratch that last one, ha ha...)  A rather quick and efficient turn around this morning I'd say since I only spent ten minutes in the B section before forcing a decision.   After the struggle, couldn't be happier.  Wonderful music, wonderful playing, wonderful sound...

Which is why the majority of time I let this wonderful Music Room choose what I end up listening to.

I've only recently gotten into the Allman Brothers Band after buying this double LP of theirs at the market a few weeks ago. Good Southern Rock and excellent SQ on this nice minty copy. I particularly like the second LP Idlewild South.

Allowing for the wet weather the weekends been pretty good thanks Graham.

I really like the laid back, psychedelic, jamming of this. Are all the albums like it? If not, can anyone recommend anything similar?

Thanks
